Biography:
Music and radio producer from Guatemala, Dj Masaya, began his career studying music at the age of seven. His interest in music has kept him collecting records since that time, focusing on the emerging world beat movement.
After many years working as a dj in different clubs in Guatemala, he began producing his radio show “Global Groove”, talking about his research and discoveries on the cutting edge movements of world fusion music, broadcasted from one of the best radiostations in Guatemala, Radio Infinita. After a few months he was hired at the radiostation and put in charge of the entire music programming.
In 2010, Dj Masaya decides to travel to Stockholm Sweden, where he continued to produce his radio show for Radio Infinita, and began playing at some of the hipper clubs of the city, being selected to play at the main stage of Stockholms Kulturfestivalen in 2011.
Musical Style:
Dj Masaya is interested in the emerging musical movement of mixing traditional music from diferent parts of the world with new musical styles like the electronica. He thinks that the globalization of the world can develop from the mutual understanding of different cultures to create a peacefull future with cultural diversity and equality.
His Dj set includes styles like ElectroSwing, a new movement of jazz from the 30’s mixed with house music, finding its bondage with Balkan Beat, gypsy music mixed with electro, getting to latin grooves like ElectroCumbia. Other styles of world music are included in his sets, following rythms like house, breakbeat, reggae and funk.
